The journey toward truth begins with the most basic question of all: why does the universe exist? Before exploring faith or morality, we must first understand the nature of reality itself.
For centuries, philosophers and scientists have debated the origin of the universe. Regardless of the mechanism, the presence of a vast, complex, and finely-tuned universe suggests a fundamental reality that requires explanation.
As we examine the world around us, we see order, mathematical precision, and laws of nature that do not change. This lead us to ask if this order is a product of random chance or the result of intentional design.
"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth."
This foundational verse asserts that the universe did not arise from nothingness, but was brought into existence by an eternal Creator.
If the universe had a beginning and shows signs of order and purpose, it raises an important possibility: reality may point toward a Creator. This leads us to the next step of the journey—understanding human reason and our ability to discover truth.
